A Walk in the Park

So we went to the park on Sunday, and took a bag of stale bread to feed the ducks and turtles. Who knew the turtles would flock to the bread faster than the ducks?!

Here are some non-mug-shot photos of me and the belly. You can always go see my latest photos at Flickr - but we keep some of our photos private so you have to be my flickr friend or family to see them. Let me know if you want to be my flickr friend!

Going to the doctor this afternoon, although I'm sure it will be the usual pee-in-the-cup, weight-and-blood-pressure visit. I'll have to do my glucose screening soon to see if I've got "the diabetes" - I'm a little worried with my family history and my penchant for sweets. I've been trying to cut back lately, but it's hard when you're married to the chocolate/cookie monster.

Me and My Llama

Does anyone else remember Me and My Llama from Sesame Street? I have been singing it this week, as I visited the dentist on Thursday, but no one else seems to remember it. I found it on YouTube, go watch!

Now my plan is to become the latest internet campaign sensation by producing a new video about Me and My Llama, Voting for Obama!

Weekend Catch-up

We're in the middle of a busy weekend, trying to get things done before the hectic month of August is upon us. I think the next few months are going to be crazy and then we'll be bored to tears in October after I can't travel or do much else.

This weekend we almost finished the guest room/office. We had one room devoted to each but decided we could combine them to have a room for the boy. Mike did the works, with a little help from me: new paint, new blinds, refurbished fan (the old one from our bedroom), new doorknobs and eventually a better closet. That's our final project, the closet. Mike's going to build me some shelves and make it much more useful.

Right now Mike's mowing the lawn and I'm doing laundry, I love the stereotypical division of labor we've got going :-)

Our plans for the afternoon are to go to Lake Lily and take some pictures (of me!). We have been doing the "mug shot" photos for about 7 weeks now, and they are not terribly flattering or artistic. They do the job of showing my progress and it's fun to look back at 17 weeks and how tiny I was, but boy did it feel like a big deal then! Last night I told Mikey how happy I am to be on this journey with him. It's been really fun and I'm sooo happy. I promise the goofy smile will fade as the heartburn kicks up more and more and I can't sleep in the third trimester. I had a little trouble trimming my toenails last night... just one of the many inconveniences to come, I'm sure. I have been a little worried about my weight gain so far, but felt much better as I was putting away laundry today and realized that the dress I wore to work this week (a simple high-waisted number that I bought right before I found out I was pregnant) was a size 4, and it still fits! Not that I would fit into a size 4 in anything other than a dress, but still :-)

Mom sent me some really pretty things from Old Navy that aren't maternity either, but work great! Kristen said I picked a great time (fashion-wise) to be pregnant, and I have to agree. About half of my new little wardrobe is just loose, current trendy stuff that happens to work with a big belly.

Wow, that's a lot of babble for today. I'll post pictures later, or tomorrow.

Baby Michael Pics

Today I scanned some of Michael's baby pictures. Click on the small image to see it larger. Now I'm going to look for baby pictures of my brother, in case little Cletus takes after my family. Either way we figure he'll have blond hair, blue eyes, and be tall and skinny. Let's hope he's as cute as baby Michael :-)

Baby Mikey

Today I got my car back, after waiting patiently and driving a stinky (literally) rental for almost a month. We were the second car in a four-car accident in May. I was 13 weeks pregnant and thankfully suffered no ill-effects from the crash. My car wasn't so lucky. But today it's back home, they even gave her a much-needed bath!

When I got home Mikey was working on the house (right now we're working on the back bedroom which will become the office/guest room combo, next we'll tackle the nursery) and he had hunted for some baby pictures. I know we'll have a little Mike on our hands in a few months so I wanted to see what I was in store for. I'll have to scan some of the photos so everyone can see what a sweet baby Mikey was! He has a photo on Santa's lap at his first Christmas (5 months) and one of him seemingly humping (ok, hugging) Santa at 17 months. Not much hair, but a really, really cute baby boy.

The hormones made a rare appearance and I had a good cry, at baby Mikey's beauty and at the fact that I'll have a little baby Mikey of my own in four months. I have wanted to be pregnant forever, and so far I have wanted to stay pregnant - I'm not as excited about having a helpless newborn. But today I made progress on the journey towards accepting that someday soon I will have to give up this cute belly and all the attention that comes with it. My dreams about having the baby are helping too. I assume when I'm 9 months and uncomfortable I will be ready to get the baby out, or so all of my mom friends tell me. For now, I think I'm so damn cute and I'm really enjoying the "golden" second trimester :-)

Making Baby Mulvihill

Yes, I decided to have a blog... a real blog. For baby updates and belly pics and all that stuff. I have officially become the obsessed mom-to-be. But I guess there are a few people out there interested in how baby's coming along, how mom's growing, and I'd like a place to document all that too. We'll see how good I am at updating, how amusing my anecdotes, etc. and we'll reassess in a month or so.

Here's my latest ginormous belly pic (at 23 weeks). It just looks huge from this angle, it's actually quite tidy.
