On Friday at work, I was showered once again. Yes, I wore my official baby shower dress! My co-workers really threw a lovely party, and I was agog at my colleagues' generosity. People must love shopping for babies, because we got a lot of lovely gifts. I will be busy writing thank you notes for a while! We played a game of "Is it baby Mike or baby Rachel?" The girls got their hands on baby photos of both of us - it was not a very challenging game, but fun!
Saturday we ran errands, got a few new things for the house, and had lunch with Mike's family. Nephew Joey was in town just for a few days. It was great to see him as always and hear his tales of travelling by car through the Western states as part of his new job. I spent half of the day going through baby gifts and gift bags and wrapping paper and gift reciepts. We only have a few multiples that we have to take back to the stores.
Saturday night we got a surprise at the door - Clay and Marina and their two adorable, rambunctious sons - Nikolai and Anton. They wanted to see the baby's room, and I had to fight my urge to clean up after them as they played with the exersize ball and baby toys. I'll have to get used to those daily little kid messes. Of course I was in there straightening as soon as they left. Mike and I walked over to meet them at the church fair across the street. I was counting other hugely pregnant ladies, there were a lot of us there! We ran into Kristen and Kenny and Ady and Bea who were on their way home, all of their ride tickets spent. We also saw Joey and his friends near the beer tent, then rode the ferris wheel - much scarrier than I thought, I got the sweaty palms but survived and had fun once we got moving. It's that stopping near the top that gets me. Mike had an italian sausage and we headed home to put up my swolen feet and hang out with Pat for a bit.
Sunday was baby laundry day! I did four loads of tiny baby clothes and sheets and blankets and towels (this picture is just the first big load). It was adorable and exhausting folding all of that stuff! I filled up the dresser and crib drawer with all of the goodies, and Mike got to have a good look at the outfits and things. We also took some more belly mug shots, and set up the living room as a photo studio with professional lights and shot some artsy fartsy preggo pictures. Those we'll get developed this week hopefully.
Here's my latest huge belly picture... I'm not sure if it's the angle or if I'm really that big now! This week is my last full week at work. I also take a two-evening Infant and Child First Aid/CPR class at the Red Cross downtown. It's going to be a looong day today.
