I've got a new appreciation for mothers on Birth days, so I spoke with my mother yesterday and listened to a few stories about the day I was born. My father wasn't there, he arrived the next day to meet me. I was named after my mother's twin who was there up until mom was moved to the actual delivery room. They used to tease me that I would have been named Rachel Frank had he been there.
We spent my birthday doing normal family things. Little Greyson has been resisting naps lately. Getting up at 6am, trying not to nap the entire day (except maybe a little in the car), and then going to bed at 9 or so. Little booger. So his only naps on Saturday were in the car - on the way home from lunch, on the way to a party, and on the way home again. We went to celebrate our friend's graduation from nursing school, yay Laura! So at least I got to go to a party on my birthday :-)
We visited with friends for a few hours, then came home and picked up Thai food on the way. We haven't had thai since just before Greyson was born. We don't have a great restaurant near our house and we haven't been willing to travel downtown for take-out, so we've been seriously thai-deprived even though it's probably my favorite, and Mike's too. I got some nice gifts from my husband, some lovely cards, and a yummy meal at home. What more could I ask for on my first birthday as a mother? Maybe a nap!
