Greyson is on the go. He's following us around the house and getting into all kinds of trouble. He loves night lights, air conditioning intake vents, door hinges, the dishwasher, and drawers. All the fun things right at his eye level.
Monday he went for his 9 month checkup at the doctor. He's still growing, but the pace has slowed a lot. He's only 21 lbs - amazingly he's still within the weight limits for his old baby carseat! But Mike had him in it one day last month and he's obviously toooo looooong to fit anymore. His height is 75th to 90th percentile, while weight is just over 50th. So he's tall and average. Like his daddy. And when I say average I refer only to their weight, there's nothing else average about my guys :-)
I had a good talk with the Doc about sleep habits and Greyson waking up at night. She reassured me that it's not uncommon for them to revert back at this age to waking at night. And the three main causes would be: drumroll... disruption of schedule due to travel (check!), illness (check!), and teething (check!). So we've got the basics covered, it's no wonder he's up every night. So this week we've got a plan to be consistent with bedtime routines, Mike and I are on the same page as far as getting him to sleep with as little help from us as possible. Then we'll work on the waking at night issue, and coming to bed with us when he wakes up. This kid's got us figured out, and we need to show him who's boss! We're working on it. I feel much more confident about it all.
And speaking of teeth... Greyson has toooo many! I'm not ready for teeth! My girlfriends nodded knowingly when I mentioned that, wincing at the thought of breastfeeding a four-toothed monster. But it's not that! He's only bitten me very rarely. I'm not emotionally ready for those little white teeth. I'm already nostalgic for his little gummy smile, unblemished by little baby teeth and big gaps. Boo hoo, my baby's growing up.
In daycare news, we've done a bit more work and have settled on Grey's new weekday home. We're deciding when he will start and how to proceed. Whimper.
