Greyson has been cracking us up with his language lately. I keep saying I need to write things down, and what better place. Now if I can just remember a few of his gems.
As I put him down for naps/bed he likes to do silly things to make me laugh. I try to keep a straight face so he'll calm down and go to bed, but sometimes we end up in fits of laughter together. This happened one afternoon and he told me "you make me crack" which made me crack up even more. Do you mean "you crack me up"? Yeah :-)
Yesterday we wandered down to the lake on our street and he called out for the turtles to come visit him. But the neighborhood cat we call "Pita" came instead. Pita climbed a nearby tree and Grey was enthralled. "Don't climb that tree, Kitty" he yelled. "You're gonna fall down!" It amazes me the things he comes up with all on his own.
I vowed not to discuss G's potty training in detail, but he has recently starting using the potty at school and realizing what it's all about. That prompted him to tell Mike the other day, "Water comes out of my weiner!"
He obviously is learning by assimilating what he hears adults say. In the bath when he didn't want to lay down he told me "I can't! I can't! I'm busy!" and I have heard him say more than once "In a minute..." to delay us. Kind of sad that he hears those things from adults so often.
Thankfully sometimes he misunderstands us. He has been saying "Crack!" a lot lately, obviously thinking he's saying a taboo word. It makes it a lot easier to ignore him when he gets the words wrong. Who cares if he says "crack" at school, right? He also has his own made-up cuss words that remind me of all the cussing in A Christmas Story, when you hear the Dad mumbling grumbling under his breath. He says "bernt!" with such force that you just know it's a bad word in his little mind. Then there was the "Oh my lorrrrd" that sounded just like me, I have to admit. He's our little parrot, and we love him.
