Greyson is a big boy. He's two and a half years old today! He sometimes likes to play baby and crawl around the house, but he knows he's a big boy now. Wearing underwear all day at school and using the potty, drinking out of big boy cups, walking more and demanding to be carried less. He's getting the hang of things, and we're very proud of him.A few weeks ago my parents came to visit. We had a great time, going to the local art festival and seeing the train go by, and visiting the azalea gardens again in the rain. It was the same park where we had our easter egg hunt, and as soon as we got out of the car G wanted to look for candy. I had to explain that there was only candy on easter, not every time we visit the park!
It is back into the 90's here in Central Florida, that chilly winter left us just in time for hot and humid summer weather. The kiddie pool came out last weekend, and Mike put Grey's backyard slide in it. In the shade, with the cool water from the hose it's quite refreshing, Greyson even caught a chill out there mid-day on Sunday. We'll spend a lot of time in the yard with the hose this summer, when we're not visiting friends with real swimming pools :-)
Greyson is still obsessed with the movie Cars. He asks to watch it each day. It used to be just the "tractor-tipping" scene, but now he'll watch any and every part. I think it's time to move on to another movie, I'm waiting for Toy Story to be available at my library. Then we'll see if he's ready to see a movie in the theater when Toy Story 3 or Cars 2 comes out later this year. I was shopping for toddler underwear today (I actually found solid color briefs and boxer-briefs in the store today, yay!) and noticed they had Yo Gabba Gabba unders. I almost got them out of habit, then remembered how he almost never asks to watch his old favorite show anymore. If the "Party in my city" tour ever comes to Orlando, I'm not sure if he would get excited. Another sign he's growing up I guess. Now he's more interested in Dora and Diego, or the Backyardigans. And we're getting paranoid about tv after reading the latest studies... everything in moderation, right?
It seems like everyday I have a new story to tell about something cute or silly Greyson has said... usually it's about his grandparents or Aunts or Uncles. Like telling me that Pops is not a man or a woman, he's Frank! Or that Pops is his grandfather, Jo is his grandmother, and Auntie Ro is his... Girl! He's into identifying people and animals by gender now, and he's pretty good at it.
He's eating better and trying new things occasionally. He had his own cob of corn at dinner last week and did a pretty good job with it. He crunches on raw carrots (huge victory in the vegetable department!) and will eat almost any kind of tomato sauce or chili or bean dish. He recently discovered cashews, and knows where they are in the pantry, so he brings the can to me daily and asks for a snack. We're working on manners, and not whining for things. His melt-downs generally involve wanting things his way, or wanting to do something himself. Mister independent.
Overall Greyson is just wonderful, learning every day, getting bigger and stronger, and remaining cute as hell.
