I have a great memory which I probably take for granted. I don't really know what to expect from kids' memories, but it seems like Grey is remembering a lot of things that surprise me.
He remembers being stung by a wasp. I got stung last week (for the first time ever) and he was able to tell me that he had once been stung on the ear. That was months and months and months ago.
He remembers Aunt Gail's farm, and riding her horse the last time we visited.
He remembers visiting Green Meadows farm, too. He remembers the animals, the train, the "broken" tractors, the fire truck, and a lot of details about our visit.
Yesterday we talked about chimneys and fireplaces, and he remembered that Matt and Kristi have a fireplace - this one blew me away, because it took me about 10 minutes to remember if he was right. Of course he was!
He remembers the names of half of his books, and the words to many of them. Repetition, repetition, repetition!
He remembers the fire drill at school, in great detail. He likes to tell this story on our way home from daycare.
He remembers the lyrics to all four verses of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and will sing them with me some nights.
For weeks and weeks, he remembered that the last place he had his mini flashlight was the hall closet. He would go back there and look for it whenever we asked about it. Finally we gave up, until one day he was with his dad looking for something in that same closet. Something must have gotten moved around a bit and G said "oh! my flashlight!" and found it right there.
He remembers our friends, and their names, and their kids names, and their pets names. I can't think of many things that feel better than a toddler learning your name and using it often. I encourage him to remember and use everyone's names.
